Aural – Junior Cert 2011 Higher level – Vocabulary

 

Section A:                                                                                           

Ca te dit de sortir? = Would you like to go out?

Il fait si chaud = It is so hot here

Où est l’arrêt? = Where is the stop (bus)

Regardez = Watch -> Imperative

En face du / de la / des = In front of / facing

Voilà = Here we are/go

Ca fait 8 euros = It costs 8 euros

 

Section B:

Etre divorcé = to be divorced

Je le vois = I see it/him

Je suis en train de préparer = I am (in the process of) preparing

Le brevet des colleges = Junior Cert

Les arts plastiques = fine artis

Je suis passionné par = I am passionate for

Un feuilleton = a tv soap

Une émission sur la nature = a nature program

 

Je m’occupe de = I am taking care of

La vie en plein air = life in open air

Voyager = to travel

Voir des pays différents = to see different countries

 

Section C:

Et bien = Oh well …

Descendre = to go down

Etre libre = to be free

L’hotel de ville = the town hall

Ce n’est pas loin = it’s not far

Le feu = the fire (or) the traffic light

Cela vous conviendrait? = would that suit you?

C’est parfait = It’s perfect

Oui, c’est ça = yes that’s it

Mettre = to put

Laisse-moi tranquille = leave me alone

Ce n’est pas juste = it’s not fair

Attendre (je t’attends) = to wait (I wait)

Trouver = to find

Cette couleur te va bien = this colour suits you

Le rayon vêtement = the clothes department (in a big shop)

Rencontrer = to meet

Je voudrais la revoir = I would like to see her again

 

Section D:

C’était grave? = was it serious ?

Faire les courses = to do the grocery shopping

Partir = to leave (somewhere)

Le patron = the boss

Drôle = funny

C’est bien payé = It’s well paid

Gagner de l’argent = to earn money

Dépenser de l’argent = to spend money

Tous les soirs = every evening

C’est trop cher =it’s too dear

Un voyage scolaire = a school trip

Je ne suis pas sûr = I am not sure

 

Section E:

Les soldes = sales

Reduction de 50 pour cent = 50 per cent reduction

Un meuble = a piece of furniture

Un bureau = a desk

Etre abandonné = to be abandoned

à la télé = on TV

Devenir (est devenu) = to become (has become)

Entrer en collision avec = to collide with

Felicitation à = congratulations to

Gagner = to win / to earn
